introductory post

Hello! I'm Erin Seccia. I'm currently in my second year at the University of Cincinnati, studying Communication Design with a minor in Spanish. Along with being a designer, I'm also a photographer. This blog will serve as my creative space – a place to share current work, things that inspire me, and things I enjoy and want to talk about.

I have always had a slight interest in writing, but never wanted to write stories or anything of the like. For a while I thought that being a writer meant you had to write books, and by the time I realized that that wasn't the case, I hadn't really found anything interesting enough for myself to write about. School papers have always been fun for me, as I enjoy expressing my opinions in a scholarly sense. I feel like as a designer it's easy to get caught up in your work, and feel like you're not using your full potential. At least that's what's happened to me. Specialization is tough, and I didn't realize it until I started feeling stuck. I'd been focusing way too much on design and not focusing on furthering myself as an individual. The purpose of this blog is to let myself do that again. This is my space to share things I find interesting, and discuss stuff that doesn't come up in my design life.

For example, I love plants. I have about 30 in my apartment, and there are so many I would love to have. With this blog, I can just talk about all the plants I want to! I also want to talk about crocheting, embroidery, world issues that interest me, books I want to read, and a bunch of other stuff. It'll all depend on what's interesting to me at the time. By reading my blog posts, you're essentially reading all the thoughts that run through my mind on the daily. I'm so excited to finally have a space to share these thoughts, and hopefully someone will find them interesting.

That's all for now. I need a sign-off. I live my life with love and loyalty, and I tend to look at life through an optimistic lens. Spread kindness.

Love,
E
